Snow Showers Shower Gel

Posted on 15:30 by tony

When I first got my greedy mitts on a bottle of Snow Showers Shower Gel, I wasn't overly enamoured with the scent. In the bottle, it gives off a slightly citrusy smell, very similar to how orange squash smells before it's been diluted. For this reason, it was nothing worth writing home about and I stuck it to back of my pile, with the hope of using it up whenever I got around to doing so. However, once I started using it in the shower, I was instantly bowled over, and regretted giving it the cold shoulder beforehand.

Before shortening it's title, this product was originally known as Champagne Snow Showers; taken from Lush's bath ballistic of the same name. The fragrance was based on the celebratory drink; a lively, sweet, effervescent white grape smell with elements of citrusy orange and acidic lime. In the bottle, these smells combine to give a rather two-dimensional scent. However, once those fruity elements come into contact with the heat of the shower, you can really pick out the different layers of the fragrance, which is such a wonderful experience.

Furthermore, this shower gel is a thick, pearly-white colour that screams 'luxury'; you really feel like a queen/king when sharing a shower with this product! Snow Showers redeems itself even more when you use it for the first time, and experience the softness of the gel - it's probably the lightest shower gel that I've ever tried at Lush.

Although it's a little difficult to get out of the bottle, once it does show itself, you need very little to produce a large amount of lather; I found that half a grape's worth can easily clean your entire body. It comes out like a body lotion and instantly made my skin feel silky soft. What's more, the combination of different oils and fruit mean that your skin glistens after use - not in a greasy synthetic way, more that the shower gel gives you a natural healthy glow.
Despite what the name suggests, this is not solely a winter-based product. Although originally released for Christmas, this shower gel would work especially well in the summer. It's a refreshing but sophisticated scent that'll linger on your skin for hours and leave you feeling as if you've been kissed all over by a rather exotic-smelling angel.

I only had to use Snow Showers Shower Gel once to recognise that this is one of Lush's more superior shower gels, and I'm extremely grateful that I've had a chance to try it. Now I fully recognise why Lushies go ballistic (no pun intended!) over products scented with this fragrance! I only hope that Lush bring it back at some point, as I'm getting to the end of my bottle and will be very sad when it's gone.

Celebrate Body Lotion

Posted on 12:21 by tony

"Celebrate has been a best-seller in Japan for years – and we've finally brought it to North America, just for Christmas! A rich, creamy body lotion, Celebrate deeply hydrates and softens with almond oil and cocoa butter, while its intoxicating blend of orange flower, lime, benzoin and cognac oil perfumes the skin with a champagne fragrance that lingers for hours. Indulge in this decadent cream before going out for the night or after a relaxing bath with our Golden Wonder Bath Bomb."

Celebrate Body Lotion shares the same fragrance as the Golden Wonder and Christmas Party bath bombs, a reason in itself to do exactly what it's name suggests. For those of you unfamiliar with the different Lush scents, this is also the same smell that is present in their Snowshowers range, a royal favourite among long-time Lushies.

The scent is a blend of orange flower, lime oil, cognac oil and benzoin; a luxurious and sophisticated fruity scent coupled with the slight zesty sourness of the lime. When I rub it into my skin, the fragrance makes me think of freshly peeled tangerines doused with just a hint of tart lime that gives, it an almost sherbert-like after-scent. It's a fresh, youthful fragrance but one that bares a maturity that'll appeal to people of all ages.

Aside from the fragrance, it contains a perfect rostrum of ingredients to help your skin look and feel fantastic. Cocoa butter and almond oil will replenish and moisturise your skin, whilst the mixture of cognac, lime and brazilian oils will help to hydrate your face and body and leave you smelling like a God/Goddess.

This is much thicker in consistency than most of the Lush lotions I have tried, which worried me at first as I find these sorts of products can be rather heavy and constrictive on my skin. Although it as a little greasy at first, I found that my pores absorbed it fairly quickly and left my skin feeling nourished and super soft. I think it's one of those lotions that you need to practice using to apply the right amount, as by the third and fourth times of using Celebrate, my skin didn't feel oily at all.

Unfortunately, Lush's Celebrate Body Lotion was a limited edition cream available only for the Lush Christmas 2013 Collection. This is such as a shame as I reckon it'll be popular enough to be added to their permanent range.

I can see this body lotion being incredibly complimentary during the summer months - the fresh, citrus kick would bode amazingly well with the heat and scent of the hotter weather. Equally so, Celebrate also helps to replenish and revigorate tired skin during the colder months, making it a versatile and incredibly sexy product.

If you missed your chance to purchase a pot during the Christmas months, or just like the sound of it from this review, I strongly advise that you keep you eyes peeled on eBay. This is a wonderful lotion that leaves your skin feeling supple and uplifted - a decadent treat for weary and tired bodies.
